
Witty Writer’s World Poetry Café Season Nine was a literary highlight of 2023, featuring top talents from Nigeria and beyond.
The edition which held on the 25th of March 2023 featured rising literary talent Peter Okonkwo, who has authored six books. Some of his book’s titles includes: Ecstasy of the Dead (2020), Fate in the Dungeon of Doom (2021), Whose Fault Kismet or Impediment (2021), A Cry for Mercy (2022), How the Demons Leaves (2023), and I Saw the Light (2023). Peter’s work has been featured in publications such as the Australian Plumwood Mountain Journal, Rox TV, Ngiga Review, African Writers Space, Central Booking, Hope Newspaper, Lagos Review and elsewhere. He is also the founder of P English Literature, a literary show dedicated to promoting literature of all genres and highlighting authors across the world.
The event also featured the Somali poet, Nomadic Libaax. Nomadic is a London-based Rhythmic Assisted Poet who uses poetry and rhyme to express his thoughts. He is also the founder of Poetically-Perplexed.com, a platform dedicated to showcasing artistes from different backgrounds and their stories.
Joshua Ayeni, a Nigerian writer, entrepreneur, and founder of Where Arts Meets Words (WAMW), was also among the featured poets. Joshua is also a prominent member of Poetic Duel International.
Alongside the featured poets, Temitope Elizabeth Adeoye, a proud member of the Lagos State University Debate Society, performed at the event. She has participated and won awards in several debate competitions and was also a Guest Poet at the Auditor-General’s training (MASSA-LASU).
Witty Writers is a literary organization that aims to nurture writers who use creative means to positively impact the world. Hosted by the award-winning poet, Olabayo Joshua Awodirepo. The event featured poetry performances of different forms and styles centered on the theme, Phases of Life. Poetry Café was a success, with amazing performances and readings from the headlined poets.
